Hello. Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place.
I've searched the KB to see if there is anything about Parallels for Chromeboxes capability of running games but it does not come up with anything.
Will Parallels for Chrome OS support running Windows esports games such as rocket League, League of Legends and Overwatch?
If it helps, we are thinking of buying these: Acer Chromebox CXI5 - mini PC - Core i5 1235U 1.3 GHz - 8 GB - SSD 256 GB which on the surface appear to have a suitable spec.
    Many thanks.

Parallels for Chrome OS was announced as a partnership between Google and Parallels to bring Windows applications to Chrome OS devices. However, the specific capabilities and compatibility of Parallels for Chrome OS may have evolved since then.

Running esports games like Rocket League, League of Legends, and Overwatch through virtualization software like Parallels can be challenging. The performance of these games depends on the hardware capabilities of the Chromebox, the compatibility of Parallels with these specific games, and the system requirements of the games themselves.

    Here are some considerations:

    1. Hardware Requirements: Esports games, especially Overwatch, can be demanding in terms of hardware resources. Your Chromebox needs to have sufficient CPU, RAM, and GPU capabilities to run these games effectively. Chromeboxes are not typically known for high-end gaming performance, so you may face limitations.

    2. Compatibility: Parallels for Chrome OS needs to be compatible with the specific games you want to run. Windows applications, including games, may not always work perfectly in virtualized environments, and performance can vary.

    3. Graphics Support: Graphics acceleration is crucial for gaming performance. Parallels would need to support hardware acceleration for gaming, and your Chromebox's GPU should be capable of running these games smoothly.

    4. Windows Licensing: You will also need a valid Windows license to run Windows applications through Parallels.

    5. Driver Support: Games often require specific drivers for graphics cards and peripherals. Compatibility issues with drivers could affect gameplay.
Given the potential challenges and limitations, it's advisable to check the official Parallels for Chrome OS documentation and support resources, as well as any updates that may have occurred after my last knowledge update. Additionally, you can explore other gaming options on your Chromebox, such as cloud gaming services or Linux-based gaming solutions if your Chromebox supports Linux apps.

Ultimately, the feasibility of running esports games through Parallels on a Chromebox depends on the hardware capabilities of your specific device and the level of support provided by Parallels for Chrome OS at the time of your inquiry.
