I feel duped. At the least, misled.
Parallels advertises that you can use their VM software to do Windows gaming on a Mac. I'm an avid PC gamer and I work in IT, so I know how VMs work.
But they didn't even write in DirectX 12 support?
I have a M1 Macbook with 64GB RAM. Here's my experience so far:
    • The Finals - won't even run. In steam, you click play and it looks like it's gonna start, but then goes away.
    • Overwatch - barely runs on lowest settings. Looks awful. Definitely not playable as it hangs and stutters quite a bit. Doesn't support HDR.
    • World of Warcraft - looks awful. Blank/black textures over 80% of objects, bad framerate, unplayable.
So, I dunno. I regret paying the subscription fee. I should have tested it first. It's just that I've used Parallels a lot for work and it works so well for anything else. I didn't expect them to drop the ball so hard there, especially when they advertise it as gaming capable. But if they didn't even bother supporting DirectX 12, I'm not sure what they were thinking anyone would get out of it. If technologies like Valve's Proton have already managed to map DirectX 12 to Vulkan API calls, then Parallels has no excuse; it's doable.
Does anyone have any suggestions to getting games to run better in Parallels?
