If I double-click a SQL file from my MacOS desktop it always launches a new instance of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) regardless of whether or not it is already running. If I open the file from the Windows VM it reuses the existing instance, so the issue is only when launching from MacOS. I have changed the default application in MacOS and then changed it back to SSMS to make sure the file association was set correctly, but there was no change. It had been working fine for years so it was only recently that this behavior began. Any ideas?
Hello @SteveK16, We would recommend you to re-install the Parallels tools manually by following this KB article. I am having the same issue with my new install of windows 11 on my M4 max mac. When opening files from the macOS side in an app that is only on the windows side, multiple instances of the same app open instead of opening the new file in the current running app. Specifically. i am opening .ipt Inventor files in inventor. This does not happen if i click on the files from the windows side. Newly opened files open in the already opened inventor application. When i was on Parallels 19 and on my 2018 intel mac this behavior did not happen. This is only happening since I am on my new M4 Max mac and with Parallels 20 and arm based windows. This is a new VM. I have tried reinstalling parallels tools, an changing a bunch of sharing options with nothing working. Technical report ID . 486945895
