Similar? Parallels starts, Windows crashes, depends on window mode
Yes, actually, I get a problem that sounds similar.
I have a two-monitor setup, and I typically use Coherence. If I boot Windows while in Coherence, it blue screens. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to read the blue screen's text b/c it disappears too quickly. i haven't had luck catching it in a snapshot.
I've also seen this problem while using Coherence on only one monitor, and while using Full Screen mode on a single monitor. I've even seen this happen a couple times when starting in Single-Window mode, which usually works. It happens with either my normal user or my admin account.
Here's the weird part: Parallels doesn't crash. Windows actually boots and gets me as far as the machine's login pane. On this work system, I see two login windows: for our Novell network and then for my computer. Shortly (but not immediately) after filling in the second login, then Windows blue-screens.
This all began shortly after our network switched to using Active Directory, but I think I also upgraded Parallels (to the version before the current 3.0 build) around then.
1. OS X 10.4.10
2. Parallels Build #5582
3. Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 GHz
4. 3GB RAM
5. 1 HD (120 GB)
6. no bootcamp
7. never used Beta
8. With what Build did the problem start? build before 5582. Sorry, I didn't record it
9. Yes, Parallels Tools are installed
10. Things I've tried to get things working:
Turning off all Shared App options in VM Config Editor.
Increasing graphics memory from 16 to 32 MB
Using Coherence with only 1 monitor instead of both
11. Anything specific about your set-up you think we should know
Two side-by-side screens with a slight vertical offset. I'd really prefer not to undo that; it's tough to get it close to right.
As for crash logs... where do I find Windows crash logs? I can see plenty of log files in C:\Windows but can't tell (even from their mod times) which one might be the right one.
