Parallels service keeps phoning home for update

After an upgrade to Parallels 5, parallels service keeps phoning home for update.
How can I disable this behavior?

Under Parallels "Preferences", there is an option to check for updates, daily, weekly or monthly. Perhaps you have "daily" checked.
 
Open the Parallels settings. Open the "Update" tab (may be accessible thru the >> symbol at the right top of the settings panel). Uncheck the Auto Update function. -> no more updates. From a knowledgebase article somewhere here, I remember that Parallels is phoning home every once in a while to check the serial number, though.
 
Not at all.
Preferences >>Update (tab).
Check for updates --> Unchecked
Check in background --> Unchecked
Download updates automatically --> Unchecked

Disabling the service com.parallels.desktop.launchdaemon in Library, Parallels doesn't start.
Something must be fixed.
 
In Parallels Desktop Preferences >> Update (tab), I have:

Check for updates (once a month) --> Unchecked
Check in background --> Unchecked
Download updates automatically --> Unchecked

Obviously this is a bug, and PTN should fix this.

I can only confirm this. I have unchecked the "Check for updates" option as well, but Parallels connects to the update server

- once after the Mac has started (even without launching Parallels)
- again when you launch Parallels

Thats's pretty often considering the option is disabled.

Quote from the article:

"Periodic" means: product activation key is checked daily, after starting the Mac, even without launching Parallels. Don't you think that's a little bit extreme?
