Parallels to provide direction on how to restore from Time Machine

Gents (and ladies),
I recently suffered a problem with my mac which necessitated a restore from the Time Machine. Despite the best efforts of Parallels technical support I was unable to restore my machine from any of my Time Machine backups.
I follower instructions to the letter and find I am faced with a total loss of Windows data which for me is more than just an inconvenience.
The problem which each time machine file was apparently a corrupted Window 10.pvm file.
My suggestion is for Parallels to provide a clear set of instructions on how to back up the Windows VM when using Time Machine.
Finally, has anyone successfully recoved their data from a bad Windows 10 pvm file ?
