Parallels Tools Setup Disk loaded at every boot

Hallo again,

I've isolated the problem regarding the autorun of Parallels Tools setup at every reboot of Windows.

Exploring the devices connected, seems that instead of the default CD/DVD of the Mac, Windows (or Parallels) loads this removable disc (it appears as "D:") qicht contains the Parallels Tools Setup and a autorun.inf file...

It's like inserting a autoexecutable CD every time that Windows XP (and Vista, I've tried both) starts...

Any idea on how to avoid this annoying problem?

disable the cd drive as default ? or rename the .iso file in /Library/Parallels/Tools perhaps.. just throwing suggestions..
 
I'm having the same problem.

Have tried the uninstall while in regular AND safe mode methods with no luck, and don't seem to have a way of ejecting, trashing or somehow disabling the Tools installer that sits on the root of the My Computer directory as drive D.
 
I found the fix for this in another topic that I didn't see when researching this issue earlier. Seems to have fixed the problem :-)

I had this problem. For some reason, the CD had become permanently attached to an .iso file that contains the Tools installation files. So each time Parallels was started, I would be re-invited to install (or remove) Parallels Tools.

The solution was simple. Mouse over to the CD icon in the lower right corner of the Parallels application window. Select "Default CD/DVD-ROM" instead of the VM Tools .iso file. That restored normal operation for me.

After reboot, restart, sleep, suspension whatever the CD icon retains the Connect to Default CD/DVD-ROM option which stops the installer from firing up every time. It also gets rid of the Parallels Tools Installer in Drive D, and turns Drive D back into the CD Drive.
