Parallels VM ate all my disk space

Got a new MB Air, which came with Mountain Lion, and reloaded the old computer via Time Machine. Upon launching the virtual machine under Parallels 6, the virtual machine grew to the point where it consume all of the drive space.

I've since learned that version 6 is not compatible with Mountain Lion.

I bought Parallels 7 and installed it, and opened the VM, hoping it would reduce it down to the proper size, but that hasn't happened. Any help?

What size is the expanding disk set to and how much stuff is on the disk? It can't compress if there's too much stuff on the virtual disk.

I am not in front of the computer, but the expanding disk is set to 64GB, and there is 29GB of data inside the virtual disk. Yet, the .pvm takes up 160GB on the 256GB SSD.
 
Still consuming large amounts of space

I am running the latest Mountain Lion and Parallels 8. Several times now suddenly all of my SSD space just disappears. I restored from backups once to fix it, but it happened again. I compressed the VM which fixed it once. Now today it happened again. Suddenly 10 G disappears. Now the compress trick does not fix it. I don't see many people complaining about this.

Any ideas?
