According to the help page, "Pausing a virtual machine releases the resources, such as RAM and CPU, currently used by this virtual machine". After pausing, I indeed noticed the cpu% dropping, according to activity monitor. However, memory seems not released. What did I do wrong?

    Thanks.

Hello, could you please check what does Activity Monitor say? Just start the Activity monitor and the virtual machine and check how much memory does the 'prl_vm_app' use, after it stop the virtual machine and check with the Activity Monitor how much memory does Parallels take.

I assigned 512mb to the vm. Before I pause VM, prl_vm_app uses 528mb (according to activity monitor). After I pause, the process still uses 528mb (didn't release). That's why I asked the question at the first place. Thanks.

Memory will be swapped to disk by Mac OS memory manager, not by software itself
