Bit poster
I run parallels 6 on a mac running 10.6.8
If I upgrade the mac to 10.11.2 ( El Capitan ) can I carry on using Parallels 6 and windows XP ??.

Hello Karen,
Parallels Desktop 6 does not support El Capitan and it has become an end of life product.
Please purchase the full version of Parallels Desktop 11 to continue using Windows XP and upgrade your Mac to El Capitan.
