hi

maybe this kind of question is very basic, but i didn't find any information, neither here in the forum, nor in the parallels help. and i don't like to experiment on this..

since the parallels vm (running windows xp pro sp3) is eating up the space of my internal drive (macbook pro, 100gb hd), i want to move it to an external hard drive.

how can i do this?
just copy the .pvm file by dragging it to the external drive and change the location of hd1 in the configuration editor?
will i lose any software authorizations depending on system-/hd-info inside windows xp?

seems a bit to easy to me..

No, it's the right way. Copy .pvm file to the external hard drive, make sure that it's mounted not in read-only mode, launch Parallels Desktop, click File -> Open and specify the new path. No data/settings/authorizations would be affected during this procedure.
