Polar HRM Software -Parallels devices USB IrDA Bridge comes and goes.

I am using Parallels to run the Polar HRM PPP SW4 software. Data transfer from the 725 monitor to the Mac Parallels is via a StarTech USB21R IrDA using Sigma Tel drivers.
When it works it works great. The issue as you can likely guess is the IrDA. When I can get Parallels to recognize the USB device and create the IrDA/USB Bridge under "devices" all is well. The issue is how do you get Parallels to find the device?

Twice now I have either shut down the Mac or removed the IrDA. When that happens I have no sure way of getting Parallels to show the IrDA/USB Bridge under "devices" again.

Any suggestions?
 
With Paralles and Windows running, unplugging the USB device from your Mac, and plugging it back in, should cause it to show up on the USB dropdown device list. If you have "USB Autoconnect" turned on then a check mark should appear before it's name. If not, after you select it on the list, a check mark should appear before it's name. At that point Windows should see it as a newly connected device.
 
That is the issue, the first time Parallels was installed, and after the most recent udate, Parallels recognized the IrDA and listed it in Devices. Subsequently, after removing and reconnecting the IrDA it no longer shows up in the Devices list.

All of what you indicated has been done perviously with no sucess, the point being that Parallels has to recognise the IrDA and add it to the Devices for USB Autoconnect or manual connect to work. The question is how to force to Parallels to recognise that the IrDA is connected again? Other USB devices work great. You would think if Parallels recognized the IrDA once it would recognize it again. Any other ideas?

When it works, the IrDA works flawlessly with the Polar HRM software.

From your other posts it appears that you are using the latest Polar IrDA device with Parallels. Other then having to select the port within the Polar software you are able to connect and disconnect the IrDA without any issue of Parallels listing it in the Devices?

If that is the case, even though we are using the latest Parallels build, my solution may have to be to purchase the Polar IrDA device.
 
Yes, I am using the new Polar IrDA USB 2.0.

The new one looks like a small silver can. The old device was a long gray and red curvy plastic thing.

All of my problems went away when I switched to the new device.

Polar PPP and IrDA now works great under Parallels 3188

I purchased the new Polar IrDA USB 2.0 and in conjuction with Parallels Build 3188 everything works just as it should. Just Awesome.
