Press and hold control key

Hi

I would like to use a application which requires a press and hold of the control key to activate some functionalities. That doesn't seem to work although the mapping of the control key is ok (for instance, I don't have any problems with using control-S, control-P, ...)
Any ideas for a solution?
I'm currently using v16, Standard Edition.
