Printer available but does not print report.

    Hi

    I upgraded my server to v10 of the application server on Monday and everything worked fine yesterday and today up until about 9am this morning when clients reported that the printers were not printing their reports. The appropriate printers are listed but the print job never gets printed and the print queue is empty. One customer was printing reports today before 9am but now they cannot print. I logged on as an Administrator and selected my printer to print a report and nothing printed. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get printing working correctly again?

    As an update my printer just printed both reports I requested but that was 20 - 30 minutes ago. What would cause such a large time delay?

    Hi Simon,

    What is the size of the print job? Please monitor activity on the server and client, might be you are overloading the system.

    In regards to overloading I doubt this is the problem as it never happened over the past year using version 8.1. I have about 12 users on the server at any one time. The print jobs are not large. In my case I was asking for a 1 page report.

    After further investigation we have found that it seems to be related to some kind of printer configuration on the client especially if they are printing to a printer connected to one of their internal server and not a local printer. We are investigating further because we have found some client printers which are attached to one of their internal servers will print and some will not.

    I now have more customers complaining about missing printers or print jobs not printing and this is occurring even with printers attached the client's workstation so my previous statement about this only happening with printers on the network is false.

    There are all kinds of errors in the log like:

    TS Agent DW17: [E 08/00000012] Failed to add printer: HP Color LaserJet 2840 PCL 6 for TS_JohnnysGasBar by 2X for: DW17\TS_JohnnysGasBar (Cannot complete this function. [0x000003eb]))

    i have this same problem. it all seem to start when i installed .v10.
    i am thinking i will need to revert back to .v9 as i did save my .v9 config.
    i like how the .v10 works the universal printer but with this odd bug i need to get this working

    Resolved: Printer available but does not print report.

    Hi

    The solution in my case was to choose "2X Universal Printer" under Universal Printing on the server which uses legacy mode printing. 2X also told me that there is a known problem with HP PCL6 printers which they are trying to resolve with HP. However, since I have reverted to legacy printing in version 10 I have had no more printing issues.

    How do you revert back to Legacy Printing?
