Problem Booting Windows 2K on Parallels Virtual Machine

Hi all,

don't know who checks these messages, so this could be a shot in the dark:

I just bought Parallels for mac ( I have an Intel Core Duo). I installed it, activated it, and set up a virtual machine partition for a "Guest OS" ( in this case, my old Windows 2000 disc I had when I used my old PC ).
So I tried to follow the " Installing Guest OS" directions on the PDF document that came with it, but I don't know if I missed a step. I go to the DOS-looking screen, insert the disc, and the DOS screen siply says "No bootable device. Click enter to continue". I do that, and it just repeats that phrase on the Parallels DOS screen. What I am left with is a "guest OS" all configured and so on, and a Win 2K disc sitting on my desktop. When the DOS screen pops up, the disc disappears, too!

The disc is made up of all the Windows files, things like setup, install, etc.

What am I doing wrong? It could be Parallels (doubt it), could be the disc/version of windows (likely), could be me (most likely!)

Win2k disks aren't bootable. This has been discussed in the forum. Do a search on Win2k and you'll find directions for extracting boot floppy images and using them.

edit the boot order in the VM config to be CD first, put the CD in the drive, then start the VM. If your Win2000 disc is bootable that should do it.

I have a Win2000 CD, and have no problems booting from it for installation purposes without having to extract any files. It can be done.
