problem installing ubuntu 8.04 as a guest on windows XP pro

problem installing ubuntu 8.04 parallel on XP

today i was trying to install ubuntu 8.0.4 as a guest on my windows xp pro as a host an i tried to even boot from the live cd and i couldn't and i kept on getting this problem:

[ 0.000000] ACPI: no DMI BIOS year, acpi=force is required to enable ACPI

and i attached the bug report from the parallel program



remarking that i could install and boot from older version of ubuntu that i have, the 6.01 version


please i need your help with that guys and thanks in advance

initially it looks like your bios might not have acpi support (it might want the older version "apm" which is another module alltogether) but the fact that it's telling you to force acpi might give you another thing to try.

when you get to your startup screen on the list, try adding "acpi=force" to the startup options below before you boot it up. That is how you "force" it to run which might get it working. Here are some other boot options that might be of use. They just fixed a problem I had with acpi interupts. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions

and i tried a lot of other commands and i could get nothing and by the way i can install the ubuntu old version such the 6.10 but any new other version i can't :S
