Problems Adding a Network Printer after 4.0 Upgrade

Hello, I have three computers on my network, two Macs with Parallels 4.0. The guest OS for each is XP Pro. My third computer is a PC Desktop with a printer attached via serial cable. I used to be able to print to that printer from my guest OS on my Macs. Now I can't. I tried adding a printer in my guest OS, but my network does not seem to be working within my Guest OS either, but I can't remember if it did under Parallels 3.0 or not. When I try to add a printer, or browse for one, my Guest OS simply cannot "see" or locate that printer on my PC Desktop. I have the windows firewalls turned off on all computers. I have the "Shared Networking", "enabled" and "Connected" options selected in my Network Adaptor Pane but still not luck.

I have been searching the forums regarding this problem but still cannot make it work. Can anyone give me an idea of what to do?

Try bridged networking.

In the shared networking mode browsing the network is not possible. But it should be possible to add printer using its ip

PS: There are several ways to add printer to win-guest, but I'm not aware of them..
 
I found the Bridged Networking under devices. I selected airport as a mode and then the Parallels Shared Adaptor. No success for either...
 
Hello,

On Mac side please check the following:
1) System Preferences -> Sharing -> Printer Sharing -> Printer Sharin on-> Open Print and fax preferences -> there should be the printer

2) Configure -> Parallel Port 1 (or add it "+" parallel port) -> it should be connected and enabled

Start Virtual Machine -> Parallel Port 1 -> Connect default printer or printer you specfied when you set up Parallel Port 1

In addition to Anupama's help with printer, I can suggest to mend the networking.

If you are interested, then steps are
1) Make sure that Parallels Tools are installed

2) Switch to the Shared Networking and try to open some site in InternetExplorer. If it doesn't work, click Start->Run and execute cmd.exe. Type in the appeared window command "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) and, without closing the window, send the problem report. Then post here the problem report ID
