    .
See what you think of the results when doing a search for "fedora video".

I have looked up a few articles on this site and on google but none see to explain or have any solutions to my problems, i recompiled the kernal, used yum update and spent 6 hours getting updates, i've edited the xorg.conf file to change the colour depth and also added various other lines advised in other posts on this forum but none seem to work, so I've gone back to a fresh install of fedora core 6 but now I'm back to square one,

    anyone have any ideas

unfortuately there is no section with the name " Monitor" inside my xorg.conf file, I don't know if this is possibly a change between FC5 which the tutorial is written for or if this is a mistake in my install, either way I'm still stuck =[

    Any more ideas?

    Thanks in advance

There should be a "Monitor" section. If you create one, this could fix your problem.

Here's a copy of my "Monitor" section, in the hope it helps.

    Section "Monitor"
    Option "CalcAlgorithm" "XServerPool"
    DisplaySize 332 208
    HorizSync 30-52
    Identifier "Monitor[0]"
    ModelName "1280X800@60HZ"
    Option "DPMS"
    VendorName "--> LCD"
    VertRefresh 50-60
    UseModes "Modes[0]"
    EndSection

    Borrowed xorg.conf and it worked

Hi I had exactly this problem with a FC6 installation. I copied over the xorg.conf from an Ubuntu install under parallels and it's now fine, though only with 1680x1050 resolution. I attach my xorg.conf file. Remember to rename it and put it in /etc/X11/

    Hope this helps
