problems with ethernet and parallels

yesterday i installed parallels rc2 on my macbook in order to use x86 linux. it works good, but since then i cannot use my ethernet card on the macbook.

dhcp only has a self assigned ip adress which fits neither the number of my subnet nor the right subnet mask. i manually assigned myself an ip adress within the subnet, but still can`t ping other computers in the net. i changed around with the different options in the network interface but didn`t have any success.

parallels installed a "parallels host-guest adapter" in addition to my ethernet card and my airport card. i`m almost sure that this is the reason for the failure of my ethernet card, but i have no more ideas how to make it work again.

does anyone have an idea what to do? is there a tool which sets the network adjustments back to default?

Well as a quick fix you should be able to go to Network in your OSX system preferences, choose "Network Port Configurations" from the show pulldown button, and turn off the Parallel's Host-Guest Adapter.


Also you might try using Host-Only networking instead of bridged networking. You can still share the network from your Macbook Pro.

ok, i shifted it to host networking. but now my ethernet adapter ist completely gone. it is activated in the network preferences, but not available in the network preferneces. ifconfig says the following
