programs can't read CD in Windows

I just installed Windows XP Professional on my Mac G5.

In Windows, programs install just fine. When I try to run them the programs can't read the CD. The DVD-R is a Matshita DVD-R UJ-85J.

I can't find any updates for drivers or firmware. Changing settings on the DMA controller has no effect.

Any suggestions
