Quick reply does not work

Every time I sue the quick reply button, I get the following error when I try to submit

The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:
  1. The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.
But I certainly have typed much more than 10 characters

(PS -- I assume I am posting to the correct section "Webstie and Forum Discussions"?, however it is also full on technical questions!)

Just to prove it, this was typed in a quick reply but rejected! I had to use the "Post Reply" button to get it in -- and it is more than 10 characters

Anyone know if there a functional difference between Quick Reply and Post Reply, other than the fact that Post Reply oddly lets you give a title to your post in the middle of an already titled thread?
