    Afternoon all
I'm planning to buy a MacBook Pro with 16gb ram, I would like to assign 8gb ram to Parallels. My questions are:-

    1. Can I assign 8gb ram to Parallels?
    2. When I'm not using Parallels, will my Mac automatically be able to the full 16gb ram or will it be restricted at 8gb?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Kate,
Yes you can assign 8 gb ram to a individual vm ( This depends on the Parallels version, you can go higher with the pro version. But you should not assign more ram than you have on the actual machine.)
When you are not using your Parallels vm and it is shut down or suspended you have access to all your ram, if you choose to pause your vm the cpu activity will clear but the ram is still being used by the vm process.

P.S. Kate, you should not post the same question in all the threads, not everyone checks all the threads before answering questions (I don't).

Yeah, and I had already answer her question, now it's seems I just wasted my time.
