(keywords ramdisk ramdisc ram disc ram disk) On my imac with 20Gb RAM I create a ramdisk in OSX, copy an entire VM file to the ramdisk, then run from there. 17Gb ramdisk, minimal win10 installation, additional stuff stored on an additional hdd attached to the VM Pros: - Runs like lightning - No thrashing of my imac's physical disc (Windows just thrashes the ramdisk...!) Cons: - Cannot run big VMs (but you can still add addiitonal hard disc drives to the VM, these are hosted on the imac's physical drive) - Have to copy VM to ramdisk at start, and copy back (To create a 1Gb ramdisk - type this into "Console" diskutil erasevolume HFS+ 'RAM Disk' `hdiutil attach -nomount ram://2097152` Multiply 2097152 by the number of Gbs you want. (its 1024*2048*size in Gb - don't know why...) Might help someone?
