Re-installing VM after erase and install leopard - old path shown, but no vm

Hi guys,

I am running a MPB, and previoulsy had a good working installation Parallels running XP.

I recently performed and erase and install of Tiger to install Leopard. Before I did so, I tried to back up my pvs file to an external drive, but OSx wouldnt allow me to do so ... so, after days of trying, I gave up, and justwent ahead with the Leopard install.

I have now reinstalled Parallels, and when the console starts up, it shows me that the fle location is:

/Users/dave/Library/Parallels/winxp/winxp.pvs

Which was the exact location of the pvs file before the Leo install, however, that file does not exist anywhere on my machine (Spotlight search)....

Is there any way for me to recover the old vm, or would it have been erased along with Tiger?

If the latter is true (erased) then will I need to by a new copy of XP to install?

If you did not copy your VM before the installation of Leopard, then your VM has been lost forever. This is not an issue if you have your original XP installation CD and a spare 4 - 5 hours to install XP and your Windows applications again.

You will need to reactivate XP after creating the VM - again not a problem if you have your original XP installation CD and the activation key.

Hi ... thanks for the reply ... so, by activation key, you mean the usual key on the box?

It's not a biggie for me to install it again, as the only software I needed it for was IE for testing....
