Recover files from corrupt .HDD

First, let me apologize if this has already been addressed -- I looked, but I could not find an answer.

My WinXp is fubar. I searched on the error codes and tried _everything_ to no avail. So I created a new VM , but I would like to capture data filed in the old VM.

Is their any way I can open the old .HDD file and salvage the data files?

Many Thanks

Sure... do the following:
1) Make a copy of the defunct .hdd file (in case you screw up and destroy your data)
2) Add that copy as a second drive to another VM
3) Carefully retrieve data...

That did the trick -- thanks for the help.
