Reinitialize sda drive during installation??

Hello,
I am trying to install Fedora 11 Linux in a virtual machine on my Macbook Pro running Snowleopard. As the installation of Linux starts I get an error message stating "Error processing drive sda. Maybe it needs to be reinitialized. You will loos all data in this drive." and then I am given a choice to either reinitialize drive or ignore drive. When I tried ignore, the installation would not complete. If I reinitialize drive, will I lose all of my MAC data, or is this simply referring to the drive space allocated strictly for the virtual machine? Please Advise. Thanks.
