Remote desktop problem

Not sure where to start with a little problem I've been having. Basically I'm running XP with Parallels 4 on my iMac (10.5.8), and my wife logs into her work computer from within XP using MS remote desktop. All works well except when another mac on the network wakes up or joins the network, it abruptly logs her out of her work connection. The network doesn't drop out, the internet stays connected, its just the remote connection that drops out. There is a sporadic error message which pops up in windows about an IP conflict, but I'm not sure if that's related.
Her laptop is also set up the same and exactly the same problem happens there.

Like I said I've no idea where to start, it could be a Windows thing, could be a Mac thing, could be a network/router thing, could be a problem with her work? Guess I'm just hoping someone here might say 'yeah that's such and such' and have a magical fix.

After further investigation it does look like its related to the IP error. I can reproduce the problem just about every time, if my iMac is running Parallels (XP), and I wake my Macbook (even with no applications running), XP will drop its remote connection and the IP conflict error will pop up.

Both Macs are DHCP and neither those or the XP VM have the same IP from what I can see.

There are some other Parallels network services listed in Network preferences which have Manual IP addresses. I've changed them as a test but it hasn't seemed to make any difference, but I am still looking at them very suspiciously.

Can anybody shed some light on what these do and whether they might have something to do with my problem?

Same Issue with me Remote Desktop Connection

Same deal, Except I cant log in at all, I am using Mac book pro OS10.4.11 and when I enter launch remote DT in parallels, it say "this computer cant connect to the remote computer, try again or conteact the administrator for more help"

I tried your solution, my girlfriend has her I-mac on the network so I shut that down to see if that would let me connect, but no go,

just in case you havent switched your network to a bridged setup.

I would think parallels on a mac would make this happen, hopefully well find whats up.

Still haven't sorted this one out. Jason, don't think I'll be much help, my wife's IT guy set her laptop up with all the remote stuff so not even sure what he did. But at least you know it SHOULD work, mine works just fine except for this problem.

Good luck finding any support articles or FAQs on the subject too, I've scoured the internet in the last few days but it seems you and I are the only two people in the world with this particular setup. Story of my life really. :)
