Restoring Minimized Window

I'm a new Parallels user and found something odd. I have Windows 8.1 running as a guest with Mac OS 10.9 as the host. I have Windows running in Coherence mode. I open Outlook 2013 or Word 2013 or any Windows based app, then I click the minimize button. The app "shrinks" to the dock icon. All is good. When I want to return to the app, I click on the dock icon and nothing happens. I have to right click on the app icon and choose the window name at the top of the menu list. Once I do that, the app returns to normal size.

Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to change this so clicking on the app icon it opens the app?
 
I find it annoying to find threads for a problem which closed with the fix. So this is my part to prevent that. The steps in the link did not resolve the issue as I do not have any security software installed other than using the Mac OS firewall. Strangely the problem seemed to resolve on its own after multiple days and multiple restarts of the guest OS and Mac OS.
