So Parallels 7.0.15050 finally fixed a major graphics problem in Autodesk Revit that has been there for YEARS. 15052 saw it break again, and now 15054 causes Revit to crash upon save 100% of the time. I have no expectation that Parallels or Autodesk gives a flying @%#$ about either problem really, so not looking for a real fix. Just hoping to as painlessly as possible roll back to 15050.
Anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to uninstall Parallels Tools first, then reinstall the older version and relaunch the VM? Or can I leave the newer PT installed and Parallels will be smart enough to install the "correct" version when I relaunch the VM?
Also, as far as rolling back, do i need to do a compete reinstall, or is a Time Machine restore going to do the job? Depends I guess on how clean a Parallels install is. Hopefully it all lives in the one folder so a TM Restore actually works. I am desperate to actually get some work done, so I hope to get a little feedback before I start. The prospects of needing to start over from scratch with the Windows & Revit install as well as the Parallels install has me worried. I would rather not loose a day, so if there is a better/quicker solution I would rather go down that road.
I also suspect that the correct answer for using Revit on a Parallels VM should be to have a backup copy of the VM with no PT installed, ready for use when another build of either shags everything. Anyone else doing similar when attempting to use Parallels in a mission critical way, not just for gaming? Business Use Best Practice would be a great thing to see documented, that is for sure.
Thanks,
Gordon
