I've configured SAMBA in my Linux VM, and connect to it from my Mac OSX host. The VM is configured to use Shared Networking. When I have an active network connection on my Mac, then it connects to the SAMBA share without problems. When I don't have an active network connection on my Mac, then it won't connect to the share. I've created a static host entry for the Linux VM, and the Mac can Ping it, but it just won't connect the drive. I've also got a Windows 10 VM on the Mac, and this will map the Linux drive without an active connection, so it is apparently a problem with the host computer. If I connect to a Wi-Fi, map the drive, then disconnect from the Wi-Fi, then it can still browse the SAMBA share. It's as if the Mac needs a functional network before it will even try to connect a drive. Any ideas?
