Same HD question New Computer

This morning I installed Parallels on a new 24" iMac and I LOVED the feature where I just added the Windows information and Parallels did everything else.

Now my problem is I need a larger HD so before I did anything besides run the updates I ran the Parallels Image.Tool and created a 20GB HD but my computer still sees only 8GB.

I followed the instructions on page 88 Enlarging a Virtual Hard Disk.
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage (section) > Disk Management and now I have one 8GB HD and 11.73GB of Free space

How with-out buying additional software can I get a 20GB HD?

If I erase this install of Parallels and install again is there a way to force Parallels to set up a 20GB HD instead of an 8GB HD?
 
How many times can you ask the same question? THIS IS NOT A PARALLELS PROBLEM! You do not have the necessary knowledge to address this problem. You need to learn what windoze disks are like and how to handle them. Your first mistake was not sizing the virtual HD to the size you wanted it to be in the first place. Your 'mac-ease' installation was based on reasonable defaults, but 20gb is much more than is needed for a windoze installation. You must now re-size - like it or not. If you insist on doing it for free, google is your friend. It's baffeling why a person who can afford a big screen mac can be crying poor-mouth for a cheap software package, but if you can't grasp the posts referencing open-source solutions - then buy something that you can understand. Afterall that's why you bought the mac.
 
Ha! If you had looked in the mac forum where you should be, you would have seen a sticky there from 5 months ago that directly addresses your problem.

This solution worked for me:
Delete all HDD and PVS files.
Reinstall Windows XP and select "Custom Install"
You need to specify NTFS, select you HD size, and specify memory. These will come up in incremental window stages. it takes a little longer, but it works.

BTW, I had trouble with Gpart to resize my original drive, but you might want to give that a try first.
