I need to run Windows XP under Parallels. How can I protect both the XP system and my Mac OS from intrusions coming while Windows XP is active?

I only need to run Windows XP and an old DOS application under Parallels. I am open to any technique that could accommodate this. How can I isolate XP from my MAC? and what antivirus program is currently available that will work with XP? Or is an antivirus program on the Mac sufficient? Thanks.
