I've got some pretty odd behavior with my shared folders. The only way I can access them is by mapping them as network drives. If I try to access them through the desktop shortcut or via the network I get a permission denied setting. On top of that, the only way the mapped drives work is if I connect as the OS X user - there doesn't seem to be any user/permissions translation going on between the guest and the host.

I wouldn't have issue with this if it weren't very slow, sometimes spiking the processor and activating the fans...

I'm on a MacBook Pro, 3GB Ram, Build 3170 (happened with previous builds as well).

    Anyone have any thoughts?

The only thing I can think of that may be interfering is that this is a converted VMWare image that still shows the VMWare tools as being installed. I can't use Add/Remove programs to remove them because the uninstaller wants to know what version of VMWare is being run before it can uninstall the components.

    Thanks for any help.
