Shared networking is broken ?!

Running 5160. Actually, was running it for quite awhile, without any problems. Today rebooted both the Mac and the guest OS (first time in weeks), and all of a sudden, shared networking isn't working anymore. Bridged works just fine, but for various reasons I need shared. What's up? How can it be fixed?
 
I did. Reinstalled PT, rolled back Windows update installed recently, restarted the guest OS. Nothing helped. Then I rebooted the OSX (or rather, was forced to reboot it ... apps were timing out writing to shared C: drive, I tried to shut down the guest OS and it froze the entire machine), and voila -- everything worked ...

My previous work period without reboots lasted 24 days ... I need to try and not reboot anything once it stabilizes ...
 
Understand that desire... I've had periods of months without a re-boot on my XServe, users like it soooo much more. It's amazing what that 2 minutes of downtime does to people's psyci
