Slow response MacBook Pro even w/ Parallels not running

I have Parallels installed on a MacBook Pro. After installing Parallels the general response time of the machine seems much slower than before. This is true even when Parallels is not running For example, I'm referring to things like pulling down Finder menu items.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Are there any things that I can check to see if they make a difference?

May be you can check Application Monitor and you will see what application is using too much CPU resources?
Also check is there enough Space on Mac HDD
