Snapshot Clarification for "dummy"

Hi,
I'm having a mental block on coming up with a "best practice" for using Parallels Snapshots.
I understand the value of creating one or more snapshots, but for some reason, I feel that there is some potential for getting into trouble with them.
My concern might be explained using the following scenario with questions.
Let's say I have a very "stable" virtual machine and I'm about to perform a operating system upgrade.
I take a snapshot of my virtual machine.
I perform my virtual machine operating system upgrade and it isn't functioning properly.
I restore using my snapshot. I'm up and running again.
Here's where I have my questions -
Is there any value of keeping this snapshot?
Isn't it "dangerous" to have too many snapshots? A little advice is what I'm looking for here....
Do snapshots also contain a current state of documents or application files?

Help here is greatly appreciated.

It's up to you. You can make a screenshot before the upgrade, but then if you do not need it -> you can just remove it

No, but screenshots will take the memory of you Mac and your Mac can ask you for cleaning up some space

Yes, and we recommend to make a screenshot once you shut you VM down or once you saved all of your files and closed apps
