Solution? - "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close"

I occasionally get this dialog box when starting Desktop 3.0 on my MacBook. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when it happens. You are only given two options - to send a report to MS or not. Choosing either will cause the error display to reappear. Restarting Windows XP is the only solution and sometimes that's iffy. I've had to go out and restart the entire Mac at times to cause a proper booting of XP.

Can anyone offer advice? I've seen others on the forum have the problem, but haven't seen any solutions. It's really annoying.
