Startup problem

Hi;

I've been running Parallels 3.0 on my MBP for a few weeks and everything has gone great, no probs at all. Recently out of no where when loading up parallels and trying to resume Windows it spins brings up the welcome to windows page then says it has a problem with memory "do I want to check for corruption?" or something along those lines and then comes up with the following message :

It just loops this message and nothing seems to happen; I cant seem to do anything because at any attempt to resume Parallels it just switches straight to this screen and doesn't offer me the original error message or anything again.


Any ideas?
 
sounds like you need to run CHK DSK on start up and do normal windows housekeeping

a VM needs to be treated like any other windows machine
correctly shut down etc etc

If it was me I would just fall back on the newest clone I made this sunday
and run it from an external FW 800 LaCie

and then I make a clone of the clone and delete the defective VM

Before you run Parallels try making a clone as is
to an external HD (from the tile menu) and run the new clone
if your Macintosh HD is nearly full that may be the issue

My Sunday clone habit is to include the latesy updates
this time IrfanView 4 and the new AVG virus definitions

- I save my data in shared folders always
never in WinXP My Documents

When it starts up it comes up saying it's trying to run CHK DSK; telling it to not do CHK DSK when it starts up just makes it reboot itself and ask me again. When it does it gives what I posted in the SS above, it just loops continuously (is it a case of this taking >15 minutes) or does that mean it's just not working.

Hard disc space is not an issue. How often should I be creating clones as backups??

What other options do I have if I cannot get it to start up at all?!

Trying to clone it still wouldn't let it start up even in Safe mode,

I'm running on a MBP 2.4GHz 4GB RAM running Parallels 3.0 Build 5160

Yep me 2

This last week after an MS XP autoupdate restart my startup would just hang in a loop. Deleted my VM and reinstalled all the software. After updating XP I began to have problems with VM hanging while shutting down. The safe start up method (hold fn F8) mentioned in anouther thread allowed a restart but didn't fix the problem long term. Now I've joined these forums;-)

The upside of my day lost to software tedium is that I learned about creating clones and now share a common mac and XP desktop. I suspect some sort of problem from the MS update side.
