Stuck on black opening screen

Parallels 3 (Build 4124) had been running fine on Mac OX 10.4.10 using Windows XP and Boot Camp 1.2. Within the last 24 hours, however, I cannot get beyond the black startup screen. In an attempt to fix it, I upgraded to Build 4160 and installed it over 4124 but it didn't make a difference. Boot Camp 1.2 works fine when run by itself.

What should I try next to get Parallels working again?

Update: I uninstalled Parallels Build 4160 and reinstalled Build 4124. That seems to have solved the problem. Re the question about Tools, I did not do anything to Tools.
