Subscription Renewal???

My 4x Macs running Parallels Desktop 10/11 popped up a window today offering to upgrade to Parallels 13 for $40 (vs. the usual $50 upgrade). I have been using Parallels since 3.0, and I upgrade every 2nd or 3rd version.

However, I notice that the purchase confirmation page has the following text: "You are subscribed to a multiple payment product. The next payment of $49.99 is due on 11/29/2018."

WTF? I never saw this before! Does this mean that I MUST pay $50/year, otherwise my license stops working? Or can I continue using the product and not renew -- and not get any further updates -- like I have since circa 2007? If not, can I convert my 12 year renewable license into a one-time license like I've had since circa 2007? Or does Parallels no longer do that?

Also, the Parallels 13 Upgrade pop-up message occurred on my Parallels 10 system (I have 3x 11 and 1x 10). However, after searching around, it looks like the 13 upgrade will only work on Parallels 10 or later. Does this mean that this upgrade won't work on my Parallels 10 system?

And if I can't resolve any of these -- I don't want an annual subscription, and I can't upgrade from Parallels 10 -- how do I get a refund? Of course, I'm not activating anything until I get these questions resolved.

Does Parallels monitor this forum? If so, please advise.

Hi @David Filip, Parallels Destktop 13 for Mac comes in different editions (https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/#compare) - Pro and Business editions are indeed licensed with subscription model only. If you'd like to purchase a permanent upgrade you can do this with Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac Home edition. Just visit this page: https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/buypd4/?full, select Upgrade > Parallels Desktop 13 for Home & Student use > select number of computers and click Buy Now.

Thanks for the clarification! I have no idea how I selected a "pro/subscription" because I don't think the pop-up gave me the option. However I was FINALLY able to get into your customer service -- >45 minute wait -- and they were able to refund my "pro/subscription" purchases, and I was able to purchase the 1-time keys for "home/student".

One remaining question, however, is that I currently have 3x Parallels Desktop 11 systems, which I understand can be upgraded directly to 13, and 1x Parallels Desktop 10 system, which I understand CANNOT be upgraded directly to 13. However, I do have two (2) Parallels 12 license keys (received last August, but never activated).

Therefore, I believe I will need to first upgrade my Parallels 10 system to Parallels 12 (using one of the unactivated keys), and then update again to Parallels 13. Does that sound right? Or is there any way to go directly from 10 to 13 by simply entering a 12 license key?

If I need to do a 10 => 12 upgrade first, where do I find a copy of Parallels Desktop 12? Since I've never upgraded any systems to 12, I don't have the software.

David, during the upgrade of Parallels Desktop you always need to use two license keys:
- one for the current version, e.g. Parallels Desktop 13 upgrade key
- another from previous version which is eligible for the upgrade. In our case these are the keys of Parallels Desktop 12 and 11 versions.
So you don't need to install Parallels Desktop 12, you can install Parallels Desktop 13 directly + use your Parallels Desktop 12 key to activate an upgrade copy (among with the Parallels Desktop 13 upgrade key, of course).
