Support for MacBook Air USB Ethernet Adapter

I have been having great success with Parallels on my MacBook Air. Speed, Performance, Response, it's terrific!

I have noticed that when I plug into a client's ethernet using the USB Network Adapter, I cannot get an IP address. Is there support for MacBook Air USB Ethernet Adapter? Should I have a secondary Adapter configured for use with the USB Adpater? (I have tried this, but perhaps my settings are off...)
Drivers?

Set your guest OS to "Shared Networking" and do not attach the USB network adaptor to the guest OS when you plug it in and it should work.

What procedure are you doing that is not working?
 
I have 2 Virtual Adapters:
1. is the AirPort and is set to Bridged
2. is the USB Ethernet and is set to Shared.

What method should I use to connect it? I don't follow: "do not attach the USB network adaptor to the guest OS when you plug it in and it should work."

Does that mean I disable the USB when it's not plugged into an ethernet cable, and then enable it when it is?

Oh.. I meant that the USB device should not be "attached" to the guest VM when you plug it in. Parallels will pop up a box suggesting attaching USB devices to the VM when they are first attached. You should answer "no" to this box.

In the Parallels menu (at the top), while the VM is running make sure that Devices->Networking is set to "Shared" while the USB network card is plugged in.

Also make sure that Devices->USB->(whatever your network card is) is *not* checked while the VM is running and the card is plugged in.

As I dont have a Macbook air I can't try the USB network dongle to see if it works here. Maybe someone else can chime in on this problem that has one ?
 
Okay, I gotchya.

I will give it a try tomorrow. I've basically setup the VM now to just have a single network adapter which is shared. If I have the VM suspended, I would assume that it would just "pick up" the network when the laptop itself does... We will see.
