This copy could not be activated (MUPromo)

i've bought a license from the macupdatepromo bundle.
i had used it with my old macbook pro for a few month, but since its always crashing (nothing to do with parallels, its a logicboard error), and this weekend finally totally crashed (on the mac partition it says "coulnt sort key" ) i wanted to install parallels on the laptop of my sister.

however when i try to activate the product i get the error:
The activation key can not be used with the current parallels build (i got the error in german, so i'm not sure if thats the 1:1 translation).


is the macupdatepromo key not for the new versions?
 
try to recall what version did you use and install the same build, or maybe you are trying to install English version while key is for German

that was it, just reverse :)
the key looks like its for the english version, while i downloaded the german version.
i've installed the english version now and it works.
on that subect, is it somehow possible to "change" the key, so i can use the german version?
or will this only be possible by buying a new license?
