Can you move a transporter VM session from one mac to another and use it?

I have a dell laptop (work) that I transported to my Mac Pro and have been using successfully for over a month. I now purchased a mac book with a core duo processor and when I attempted to open the Parallels transported VM image it told me the geometry was not correct. Is this normal behavior? I know with VMware you can open an image pretty much on any system. Is there a workaround for this? Or do I need to transport the whole dell laptop again to use on the macbook?

    Any help appreciated.

If you copy a VM to another machine with Parallels installed, and adjust the external file (.hdd) addresses, it should work fine as long as the second machine has enough resources (mainly RAM).

There have been problems reported with opening a VM on a network drive, but a local drive should work even if the platform is different.
