Trying to install Vista 64-bit w/o success

Hello,

I want to setup a new guest OS - Vista 64-bit Enterprise Service Pack 1 - and I can't get Windows to boot off the install disc and run the installer.

I am running Parallels on an MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo running Mac OS X 10.5.6 with 2 GB of RAM.

I see a black screen that says "Windows failed to start" and at the bottom of the screen it says "Info: Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode."

Is Windows 64-bit possible on my machine?

This is expected behaviour, as it looks like you have a 32-bit CPU. You would need a 32-bit guest OS from the list of supported OS's.
 
Thanks. That explains it. I didn't realize Core Duo was 32-bit. Now i see I need a Core 2 Duo MacBook. Tricky.

Of course the Parallels sales person I talked to on the phone told me my machine would run Vista 64. And, although I'm not sure it's Parallels job to tell me my machine is 32-bit, it would have been very helpful to me to make that distinction clear on the system reqs page.
