Trying to save Quickbooks file in shared folder on network

I have set up Parallels on a new Mac running OSX, and have installed windows XP.
I have Quickbooks running on Parallels in XP, and am trying to use quickbooks in a multi-user mode, In order to do this, the quickbook files have to be saved in a public folder that can be accessible to anyone on the same network as the Mac is on.

I can not get quickbooks to save in a Public Folder on the Mac. Should I be saving to a public folder on the parrallels desktop, and how can that be seen by someone else on the network??

On a regular PC, I just save the QB files in the public folder, and access them thru the network.
 
You should try Bridged Networking. It is not possible in the Shared Networking mode.

Note: Bridged Networking will only work in the real network environment and definitely will not if your are connecting through modem.

PS: Are you using Parallels Desktop 4.0?
 
I am using Parrallels 3.0 , is this a problem?
I am not familiar with Bridged Networking? How is this accomplished? If Quickbooks is on windows XP on the Parralells desktop, do you save in a file on the Paralleles desktop, Mac Desktop or XP Desktop?
 
I am using a home network, all computers are connected on an ethernet connection in the same location. No modem used.

In the home network Bridged networking may not work, since usually home networks configured to allow only one IP-address per switch port.

I've just got an idea: may be Shared Folders may help you. Just make some Mac Public Folder shared between Mac and Windows and make quickbooks to save to that folder. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Shared Folders and cann't say exactly how it could be done.

PS: afaik there should not be great difference in networking (except better networking performance in the Parallels Desktop 4.0) between 3.0 and 4.0
