    Hello,
I am new to using Ubuntu. I have installed 14.04 on Parallels 9. I have had trouble getting coherence mode to work. When I attempted to enter coherence mode I got this message: "Unable to switch to Coherence. Please disable Linux desktop visual effects." It contains a link to here <http://kb.parallels.com/en/111510>.

The guide says to install gnome-session-flashback. I installed gnome-session-flashback and when I go back to the login screen I notice there is a button that lets me switch between Compiz, Metacity, or Ubuntu Default (login image). When I pick either of the GNOME options, coherence mode works, though the problem is now that the sidebar is missing (desktop image). If I log in using Ubuntu Default the sidebar is there (login default image) but I cannot use coherence mode. Is there any way to fix it so that I can use coherence mode on Ubuntu Default or get the sidebar back on either of the GNOME options?

    Thanks.

Hello Partha, Unity may be broken Ubuntu Default. please follow the steps suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/121300 and check the issue still persisting.
