Hi, I'm using Parallels Desktop 18 on macOS 12.6 using MacBook M1. I installed latest Ubuntu LTS and I have this problem described in the title -- I press [Shift] + [`] for tilde and > (right angle bracket) is rendered; same for only a backtick [`] -- < (left angle bracket) is displayed. The problem happens no matter which keyboard layout I use. I'm desperate -- those buttons are essential for me as a programmer. Any help appreciated!

I'm seeing the same behaviour on MacBook M1. I tried Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04, Arch Linux, and on all of them tilde key produces angle brackets.
I've been using Parallels since 17 (or maybe even 16), currently on 18. It happened on macOS 12 as well as on latest 13.5.1.
I use Polish keyboard layout on both host and in guest. Judging by OP's name, PawelM4, I suspect it's also Polish layout there.
What I found so far is that when I switch layout to "USA" on macOS then tilde key works fine in the guest, which is (slightly annoying) workaround.

I just installed Ubuntu 20.04 (w/o GUI) on Parallels Desktop for Mac 19 running on my 14-inch MacBook Pro M1. All was working well until I tried a command that needed the tilde. It typed the angle character. The backslash types the tilde. But Sift-2 does not type the @ character and I used one in my password and I can't relogin after a restart. Is there a non-GUI Ubuntu 20.04 that does not do this?

    Hello,
As a possible solution, kindly follow the below steps:
    1. Make sure that the virtual machine is shut down. If it is in a suspended state, please run it and then shut down (Actions > Shut Down).
    2. Quit Parallels Desktop (click Parallels icon on the top Mac menu (||) > Quit Parallels Desktop).
    3. Run Terminal (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal) and execute the following command:
defaults write 'com.parallels.Parallels Desktop' 'HID Host Hook.Force Kbd Type' -int 1
    4. Turn on the Ubuntu virtual machine and verify if the issue is still present.
    Thank you.
