You may have a defective disk. If so then you'll need a new disk to copy the contents of the defective disk too (probably using the Disk Utility Restore feature).

What do the following commands say? They will tell us how your disk is partitioned.

The I/O error appears to be on disk0s2 which is probably the first partition on the disk. Boot your Mac OS X installer disk and use Disk Utility to verify the disk and all the partitions on the disk. Use another utility such as TechTool Pro or TechTool Deluxe that does a surface scan of the disk and will report any bad blocks and which files contain those bad blocks.

 

Fix parallels please

I have tried everything you told everyone else of what to do to fix this problem. I still get the error message. Unable to access Hard Disk 1: Error ID:Input/Output. Please I want my money back or fix this problem for us please. I paid for something that doesn't work. I will contact Attorney general and BBB about this issue if I don't help to fix this issue.Thanks.

 

disk0s2: I/O error

I also get a lot of these in my log. I booted from DVD and ran diskutils and it reported no errors. I formatted the disk and restored from TimeMachine. After ten days the errors started again (first sighting was after I used Parallels so I think there is a connection).

Formatted drive again, this time just installing MacOS X from DVD. Did not install Parallels. I wrote some shell scripts to fill the drive with random data, copying and deleting again and again. The error never showed up. The Apple service people says there is nothing wrong with the computer after running their tests. The error shows up after using Parallels, it seems.

Parallels 5, Snow Leopard, XP guest.

"disk0s2: I/O error" sounds like a hardware issue. But is it possible that the kernel extensions or something in Parallels is causing this?

 

Errors Since new build install

I too am now getting this error message after I installed the latest build of PD6. Never had it before now.

Any suggestions, comments on a solution would be appreciated.

We got the same problem on Bare Metal 5

host_wait_work_complete_async_device

and host stops to work as intended

We ve changed hardware (LSI 9261 controller and all of the disks in raid)

We ve upgraded in kernel driver megaraid_sas from buggy to latest stable version.

Seems that it has something in common with "Resources" optin in VM config where option disk priority and disk bandwidth are implemented.

Maybe someone from Parallels support would take a look at this issue as it makes whole machines unstable, please.
