Unable to activate license

Hello,

Recently I had to format the drive on my mac. I reinstalled parallels desktop and when I enter my activation key I get the following message:
"You have entered an upgrade key. Please confirm it with a key from the previous version."
I only have the one activation code I received when I got the software last year, so I don't know what it's asking for.
If anyone could help I would appreciate it.
