Unable to connect to internet

Hi
I'm running Parallels Build 3170 and am unable to connect to the internet through it. It has worked in the past but not for a while now. I've tried all possible combinations under the internet connect button at the bottom of the window but none of them work though it seems to think that it has a connection.
Does anyone have any idea why this isn't working?

let start with how you connect to the internet. are you behind a router ? are you using dhcp or static ip ? can you post the output of

ipconfig

form a command line, in shared and bridged networkign mode.

What adapter do you have connected on the mac ? Airport or Ethernet ?

Good morning to you...
on Mac side
1) MacOSx is able to connect to internet?
2) checked the sys. pref. - network and you see en2 and en3 with green light on it?
3) do you remember what was original selection for your network.. sharing, default,, etc....?
on WinVm side
1) in command window, have you done IPCONFIG /ALL to see what ip address you were given?

Good morning to you and I was wondering, I'm using 3106, and I do not have bridged networking options... is this new?? i do faintly remember seeing that option in trial version of 1970....

I'm behind a router using DHCP and connecting with Airport.
Using Shared networking my output is:

Using Host-only networking (no option for Bridged but assuming they changed the name to this or something) I get the exact same thing.

2) I don't seem to have any en port configurations, I'm sure I used to though, could this be the problem?

Hi Ben,

You shouldn't see 192.168.1.2 for your shared network, it should show 10.211.55.something. My guess is you have been using bridge and than you changed to shared while VM is still running which causes network interface to hold on to the old IP address. You need to do (in Windows VM) a ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew to get a new IP. Or just simply restart VM.

Also, don't use host-only network. You will not be able to connect to Internet with that.

also, in Parallels Desktop > Preferneces > Network , did you change any of the IP addresses in there ?

I'm suprsied to see the windows system get a 192.168 address, whilst using shared networking. Parallels usually uses a 10.x.x.x address when in shared networking. This could be your problem.

This is how mine is as default.


Can you post an output of

ifconfig -a

from the OSX Terminal window.

sidssp - I tried doing what you said but it wouldn't work, saying it wasn't recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or hatch file

Darkone - This is weird, when I go into my preferences my netword setting are exactly the same as yours!
